PASYKAF and its Gastrointestinal Cancer Team, Althea, have organized a press conference on the occasion of World Pancreatic Cancer Day which this year has been set on November 16th. The conference was themed after the global slogan “Demand Better. For Patients. For Survival.” and was held on Tuesday, November 14th. Universal Life, the Grand Sponsor of Althea and an All-Time Sponsor of PASYKAF, has once again responded to the call of raising awareness and educating people on Pancreatic Cancer, thus contributing in all efforts to prevent and tackle the disease in Cyprus.

During the conference, President of PASYKAF, Dr. Anna Achilleoudi highlighted that Pancreatic Cancer remains a silent epidemic and is the fourth cause of death in Europe, at risk of becoming the second cause by 2020, unless immediate action is taken. She invited everyone to join all efforts of raising awareness of Pancreatic Cancer and made particular reference to the Social Media campaign “Wearing Purple”. She made a special point of thanking Universal Life for supporting the Gastrointestinal Cancer Team as a Grand Sponsor and emphasized that the Company’s valuable support has contributed to the Team’s progress.

On behalf of Universal Life, Ms Emilia Orphanidou stated that the World Pancreatic Cancer Day presents an excellent opportunity to join our voices and come a bit closer to our mission of awareness and prevention. She made particular reference to the symbolism of purple color which reflects spirituality, knowledge and vision. As she stated, these elements reflect our efforts during November’s awareness campaign. Finally, she thanked PASYKAF and all who have contributed to the formation of Gastrointestinal Cancer Team “Althea” and stressed the company’s readiness to continue working with the Association in order to achieve all common goals.
