In a continued effort to promote social sensitivity, Universal Life once again took part in the global celebration of International Volunteer Day on December 5th, aligning its actions with the Volunteer Week organized by the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council (PVCC). For the second consecutive year, Universal Life launched the 'UniLife Volunteer Week,' a week-long initiative from December 2nd to 6th, where employees joined forces to bring smiles and hope to the community, reaffirming the company’s deep-rooted commitment to social contribution.
A Week Full of Volunteerism and Impactful Actions
- Monday, December 2, 2024: Universal Life employees spent the day spreading festive cheer by creating Christmas ornaments with the children of the Nicosia Special School, supporting the school's fundraising efforts. Additionally, they crafted Christmas decorations for the Eleousa Foundation of Kykkos and prepared sweet treats to be gifted to elderly individuals at the Nicosia Municipal Multifunctional Center.
- Tuesday, December 3, 2024: Continuing their mission, Universal Life volunteers organized activities for elderly residents at the Nicosia Municipal Multifunctional Center. Employees offered sweet treats and engaged seniors in recreational activities such as bingo, creating a warm, joyful atmosphere for all.
- Wednesday, December 4, 2024: Volunteers visited the Eleousa Foundation of Kykkos, where they delivered handmade Christmas crafts for the Foundation’s festive bazaar. Together with the children at the Foundation, they created clay handicrafts, strengthening connections with the community through creativity and teamwork.
- Thursday, December 5, 2024: On this day, Universal Life employees participated in a blood donation drive. Recognizing the vital role of blood in saving lives, employees generously donated to support those in need, further showcasing their commitment to meaningful social contribution.
- Friday, December 6, 2024: The week concluded with a Christmas bazaar at Universal Life’s headquarters. Employees raised funds to support the 'Unique Smiles' Association, with all proceeds matched by Universal Life, doubling the impact of the initiative. Additionally, the company supported the 'Little Volunteers' Association through a special Christmas-themed Happy Hour at the Central Offices, reinforcing the spirit of giving and community support.
Commenting on the success of UniLife Volunteer Week, Ms. Elena Georgiadou, Head of Universal Life's Human Resources Department, emphasized that "small acts of kindness can create significant change in people's lives." She stated, "With this initiative, we aim to promote volunteerism and collectively send messages of love and hope."
Ms. Georgiadou also highlighted that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an integral part of Universal Life's culture, with both the company and its employees committed to maintaining a reciprocal relationship with society.
